Enforcing Sharia at UC-Irvine

In "UC Irvine Still Enforcing Sharia Law" by Jonathan Constantine = Movroydis=20 and Reut Cohen at Pajamas Media, May 22, we see how dhimmi university=20 administrators allow Muslim students to enforce Sharia provisions (no = filming of=20 the "sisters") on the campus of a public university:

...The featured speaker last Thursday, May 15, was Amir = Abdel=20 Malik-Ali, a radical imam from Oakland who is all too familiar to UCI=20 students. Malik-Ali frequently engages in anti-Western rhetoric and is = a vocal=20 supporter of terrorist groups. Not only has he praised Hamas, = Hezbollah, and=20 the mujahadeen in Afghanistan as =93Islamic resistance=94 movements = struggling=20 against Western =93oppressors,=94 he has called any scrutiny of these = terror=20 groups mere =93propaganda.=94 Following Ali=92s speeches to UCI=92s = MSU, the audiences=20 of keffiyah-wearing Muslim students always repetitively recite the = battle cry=20 =93Takbir! Allahu Akbar!=94 This year=92s audience was no different.=20
While his rhetoric is lurid and apocalyptic, Malik-Ali=92s speech = is=20 protected under the First Amendment. What=92s alarming is the = administration=92s=20 willingness to enforce the MSU=92s prerogatives on other students who = attend=20 their events =97 hence the application of Sharia law where the Bill of = Rights is=20 applicable. For example, while videotaping Malik-Ali=92s speech, we = were=20 confronted by a school administrator. Dean of Student Services Sally = Peterson=20 told us that, on behalf of the male students, we would have to stop = filming=20 the female activists, or as she called them =93the sisters.=94 Aware = of our=20 rights, we refused her orders and continued covering the event.

As we continued our coverage of the festivities, members of the MSU = ultimately decided to enforce what appears to be their own principle = of just=20 retribution. After Thursday=92s event, the MSU walked up and down the = main=20 campus road chanting anti-Israel slogans and blocking off the entire = walkway=20 for several minutes while police and administrators stood by idly.

A male individual, who was filming the hateful procession, had at = least=20 three Muslim males charge at him for daring to film as the females = from the=20 group walked past. One of the males, a student named Yasser Ahmed who=20 purportedly threw a cinderblock at an FBI vehicle last year, said to = the=20 cameraman: =93You wanna get jacked! We can go get jacked right now! = C=92mon=20 Emanuel, we=92ve learned a lot about you let=92s go! Lets go get = jacked, Lets go=20 get jacked!=94

The UCI police department treated this incident unprofessionally = and took=20 no action. The student journalist gave his statement to a UCI police = officer=20 and explained how he was assaulted. The officer then went to take = statements=20 from the males MSU members. The police would not, however, take = statements=20 from those who witnessed the assault against the student journalist. = After the=20 police officer took statements, he told the student journalist that = one of the=20 males who charged at him had apologized and that nothing more could be = done.

A Christian preacher on campus, Michael Venyah, also had his rights = violated last Thursday. This preacher, who believes that all people = must=20 accept Jesus in order to get into heaven, began preaching about the = prophet=20 Mohammad and his crimes. Evidently, MSU members didn=92t like hearing = what he=20 had to say and opted for charging and running into him. This was = clearly an=20 incident of assault. The cops present did nothing, and Dean of = Judicial=20 Affairs Edgar Dormitorio suggested that Mr. Venyah should leave.

Another case of MSU=92s vigilantism occurred when a young Jewish = female was=20 followed back to her car and surrounded by six members of the MSU. A = community=20 member who witnessed the harassment also had her civil rights violated = when=20 the Muslim students noticed her. As UC Irvine police offers stood idly = by, the=20 Muslim students proceeded to situate themselves on the hood of her car = in=20 order to photograph her face, her vehicle identification number, and = her=20 license plate. When she later called the police department for = answers, they=20 justified the criminal behavior as the culmination of a tit for tat = ethnic=20 squabble. Put simply, they justified the need for Muslim students to = =93vent,=94=20 as they were just getting back at the Jews.

One group at UC Irvine has monopolized freedom of speech and = expression.=20 MSU organizers have taken it upon themselves to restrict the freedoms = of=20 others on the university campus and have managed to avoid significant=20 criticism from the administration. Conversely, those who voice concern = over=20 MSU=92s actions are depicted as stirring up = trouble....

All I can say is thank god for the second amendment.

If these animals start to harass normal citizens and openly think = they are=20 not subject to the law (and who can blame them if we do not enforce our = laws),=20 then self defense is the last line of defense.

This is just how the authorities embolden them.
In London we had = that hook=20 handed pork muncher abu hamza and his gang sitting in the road out side = of the=20 mosque praying and ranting and our police did nothing.
It is a = criminal=20 offence to obstruct a public highway, but they did nothing.
Let them = get away=20 with minor offences now and there will quite litrally be hell to pay=20 later.

This reminds me of the Nazi Brown Shirts, the thugs who softened up = Germany=20 for the Nazi takeover. What is it about our society today that creates = such weak=20 men and women who will not take a stand? Tepid passivity is the order of = the=20 day. Why are the police doing nothing? Is that what the administration = has said=20 they want?

As I see and hear what is happening in the world I feel as though I = am=20 witnessing a slow-motion train wreck. A global disaster is unfolding, a = disaster=20 that is not inevitable but for the inaction of those who could stop it, = but are=20 doing nothing. Some of us are pointing out the obvious, but like a bad = dream,=20 they go on as if we weren't there.

Jihad will ultimately fail, but as with Nazism, the costs of stopping = the=20 fanatics later will be so much greater. Needless suffering will result = all=20 around. What a waste.

When will Americans acknowledge the serious threat we face, and take = matters=20 into their own hands? I'm beginning to think that some well placed = infidel=20 vigilante justice just might be tolerated by some Americans. I'm still = having=20 mixed feelings about it myself, but as things get worse for us infidels, = I=20 suspect my feelings will change. The freedom that is being conceded to these ideological thugs has = always been=20 seen as a strength in America. Standing by that freedom, no matter how = risky,=20 has always been a challenge. "Radical" (which continues to look like = normal)=20 Islam represents a new, and very acute, instance of that challenge. = And...

is that the whole story? Does someone expect that demonstrators on = behalf of=20 terrorist groups, who express virulent hatred for the very Western world = that is=20 granting them this freedom, will be so impressed by American pluralism = and=20 tolerance that they will eventually convert to an endorsement of its = values,=20 like recognizing the rights of people other than themselves? Is that = what=20 European imams are doing when they "look forward" to recovering the = Kingdom of=20 Granada?

The only hopeful note in this depressing story is the one struck by = the team=20 filming the event when they refuse to comply with the directive (from = the=20 university!) not to film the Muslim women. For the best of reasons: they = know=20 their rights.

Apart from that, where is the hope in this? What is the future for = American=20 and Western freedoms when universities are run by unthinking cowards who = bow and=20 scrape to the enemies of the very freedoms they think they are = defending?

Some ancient Greek thinker, I forget who, said that democracy = suffered from a=20 weakness: it would only last until the people realized that they could = vote=20 themselves endless money out of public funds. Today the weakness seems = much more=20 radical. Democracy can only last until its freedoms are extended to = those who=20 despise them. At that point democratic freedoms become liabilities.

I'm not aware that this has been revealed before in American history, = though=20 it might have been. As far as religions are concerned the problem = doesn't seem=20 to arise with any other, no matter how alien their thinking may be from = a=20 Western point of view. The problem is here now, though. It starts with = an I and=20 ends with a slam.
